Magma Futura ¿Cuánto puede un cuerpo?
Magma Futura and SOA Arte Contemporáneo. (Curated by Ana Gotta and Sabrina Srur)
Montevideo, Uruguay
Mi-sterio (Me-stery) is a transmedia installation that initiated in 2022 and continues to evolve. It encompasses an immersive installation suitable for three or four walls, 10:1 video format, poetry, an avatar created from physical body scans of the artist, portraits of this avatar enhanced by Artificial Intelligence, digital collage, music, human voice, and Augmented Reality.
This piece stems from my personal exploration into the construction of self within the vast and evolving immaterial realities we now inhabit.
Drawing parallels with the ancient Greek mysteries—conceived as sacred initiations—Mi-sterio navigates an individual's journey. This voyage is triggered by feelings of depersonalization and derealization, setting off a search for meaning in a space where the boundaries between self and others blur and dissipate. It signifies an acceptance of the dissolution of self-identity, the fading of our physical form, and the withering of vanity. Simultaneously, it represents the transcendence of our physical constraints and the gateway to a novel reality. At its core, it's an investigation into the construction of our digital image.
How do the numerous manifestations of our avatarized selves—filtered and mediated by diverse human technologies—affect our physical, emotional, and spiritual existence? How do they transcend the tangible world?
Is a digital form truly a body?
Do I define myself by my physical presence?
Is the version of me on the screen a true reflection?
Are my avatars extensions of myself, akin to new organs?
Does my essence expand or fragment in the myriad forms it assumes?
“By the late twentieth century, our time, a mythic time, we are all chimeras, theorized and
fabricated hybrids of machine and organism; in short, we are cyborgs.”

text
¿Soy yo en el espejo?
¿Qué veo?
¿Qué soy?
¿Qué siento?
Mi cuerpo es una tumba,
es el velo.
Mi cuerpo es un espejo,
es hielo.
Un envase
vacío.
Mi cuerpo no es mío.
¿Qué es?
¿Qué soy?
¿Soy un cuerpo?
¿Qué es un cuerpo?
Este es mi hastío.
Mi-sterio.
¿Cuál es tu cuerpo?
Y ¿Dónde empieza
si aún no acaba el mío?
¿Acaso es todo ilusorio
en el imperio de los sentidos?
¿Acaso somos la sombra?
¿Quién sabe de dónde venimos?
El universo es mi cuerpo.
Ahí nos encuentro,
en el vacío.
Me extiendo ordenando el caos,
ya nada es mio.
Es el principio de los tiempos.
Somos el fin.
Omnia est trinum.
Is it me in the mirror?
What do I see?
What am I?
What do I feel?
My body is a tomb,
it's the veil.
My body is a mirror,
cold as ice.
An empty
frame.
My body is not mine.
What is it?
What am I?
Am I a body?
What is a body?
This is my spleen.
Me-stery.
What is your body?
And where does it begin
if mine is not yet over?
Is it all illusory
in the empire of the senses?
Are we mere shadows?
Who knows where we come from?
The universe is my body.
There I find us,
in the void.
I extend myself, ordering chaos,
nothing is mine anymore.
It's the beginning of time.
We are the end.
Omnia est trinum.
